Upcycled Gift Box Storage and an Invitation!

Greetings Friends! Today I'm sharing a fun project for the small craft space I have been slowly but surely updating, which also happens to be related to a special invitation...

Where Bloggers Create 2016

...Karen at My Desert Cottage is hosting the annual Where Bloggers Create party on July 15 and you're invited! It's not just for bloggers, there will be oodles of eye candy and inspiration for all to enjoy. For my blogging friends, make plans now to share your creative space. Remember no crafting corner is too small and think outside the box. I usually share my garden, because it is where I am most inspired and complete many of my projects. However, this year I will be sharing my updated craft studio and when I say studio, think studio apartment--as in tiny! Even so, I have done my best to make the most of the small room as far as arrangement and pretty storage, which brings me back to today's project. You know my inclination to upcycle whenever possible, so when I received gifts in each of these boxes, I saved them.  I loved the colors, they just needed a little something more.

I've shared before that I buy paper doilies at thrift stores and yard sales. When you're thrifting, do you ever come across partially used sets of stationary? With the popularity of email and texting, it seems hand written letters are rare these days but I do occasionally send them, as well as treasure those received. I sometimes buy the left overs like these gold seals I found at a yard sale, for crafting. When I saw them, I instantly thought of polka dots--love me some gold polka dots!

I started by cutting the doily to fit the square box lid and

used craft adhesive squares to attach it.

Next, I attached the round doilies to the round box--no cutting required this time!

Now for a little sparkle! I found this glam gold polka dot tape on Amazon. {See link at the bottom of the post.}

I added contrasting tape to each of the lids and the larger gold seals polka dots around the bottom of the round box.

Last, I placed a little gold sequins heart in the center of the round box. Voila!

  1. Cecilia, that is so clever! Love it! You're like me...hate to throw away those pretty vintage boxes. Remember several I've tossed in the past b/c didn't know what to do with them. Comes to a point...you can't save everything...LOL.

  6. The boxes are so dainty and pretty! Love that polka dot tape! Looking forward to seeing where you and other bloggers create! I'll have to sit this one out... don't think anyone cares to see my recliner where I work on most posts, or my kitchen table and counters that double as a craft space! LOL! Can't wait to see yours! :) ~Rhonda
